JOY TO THE WORLD!!!

Hey all! Sorry it's taken me this long to get a new post up. Whenever I get on I tell myself I have to put up a new post soon, but haven't gotten around to it.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR CHRISTMAS AND THANKSGIVING!!! I love shopping for Christmas gifts, and I love everything about this time of year. I just hope it snows!!!!

Wow, I can't believe I am already saying this. I can't wait till it snows!! This year is going by SO FAST!! Its seems that it was just yesterday that we were starting the most amazing week of Camp Hope . . . And it was a week ago that we were taking down the Christmas tree, right? Now, the twins and I have little conversations about what we are going to do as soon as we can convince Mom to pull out the decorations. We keep our conversations really quiet though. We probably won't start decorating till early-mid december.

I love Thanksgiving! This year we are going to the Watts house, and those are always the best. Turkey and gravy. Mashpotatoes, and any of Aunt Joyce's amazing foods. I get excited just thinking about it. And then, waking up the next morning and reminding everyone that WE GET TO LISTEN TO CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!! Aaaaahhh!!!!!

Do you know what is really sad? Target is calling Thanksgiving Turkey Day. Isn't that sad. Oh come on, can't you let it stay a day for Thanksgiving????

It is a very joyful day. The sun is shining, the wind blowing dark clouds across the sky, and there are patches of bright blue. Leaves are falling, and it's all perfect. The only thing that could be better is if it were snowing.
Beth keeps singing Joy to the World because her Choir is learning it. She keeps getting it in my head . . .

I should go do some school, and then I have dance class tonight. I might go play some songs on the piano, and probably call Elaina. It is all so perfect. Maybe I can convince Beth to teach me the actual harmony part of Joy to the World, and we can both sing it . . ..

(but shhhhhh we can't let Mom hear. It isn't after Thanksgiving yet ;) )

The contemplation of little brothers

Many of us have to endure them, and those who don't wish they did. For those who don't have the joy and pain of little brothers, let me enlighten you.

Often, those young males are trying to prove themselves a man. It often results in skinned knees, painful elbows, and tears. They want to be tough, and a "big kid". They also put on a air of, I am so way cooler than you. You can't even tell what kind of car that is, or what kind of airplane that is, I mean come on, it's only a couple miles high in the air!!!! Their false bravado only shows their insecurity, and desperateness for our affection. Though most would never admit it, (I admire the few who do), they so badly wanted the older siblings aproval, that they will do almost anything to do it. They want to know they are loved, and they want to be admired. I believe that today's world beats down boys. They try and make them less manly. It is a sisters duty to build them up, and to help them. I am one of those older sisters who doesn't help in the building up of younger brothers. I try and make him tough, when what he really needs is affection, and love. Not constantly pampering him, and oh my goodness he fell!!!! *runs screaming* are you all right?!?!?! Part of it is because I want a brother who will protect me when I need it, and will be kind, considerate, gentlemanly, and all those things.

Brothers around the world need our help. They don't need toughening up by their sisters, (leave that to other brothers, and guy friends) They need sisterly love, and true friendship, the kind that can only come from their older or younger sisters.

Washington has given way to Rain

MJ is playing a song on the piano, the rain is falling to the piano playing, and leaves are gently drifting to the ground. The lamp next to this lap top is on, sending off a soft glow. All perfect right? Not really. I have been feeling strange recently. It is a new feeling for me. I can't recall when I have felt this way before, but here it is, as sure as can be. I DON'T WANNA GROW UP!!!!! Beth mentioned the other day how young I am. I am so totally fine with that. Weird isn't it. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a big kid, I wanted to drive, and go to college, and to go to the theater every friday, and to fall in love, and get married, and have a huge family, but right now, I am so totally fine with being me, 13, and so not ready to grow up.

So, right now my life is a whirl wind of activity without anything going on. Recently, I saw Wicked at the Paramount Theater. AMAZING musical. It also inspired me . . . Ever been really obsessed with something? Well I was hopelessly inspired. Finally, I am fine with not being a singer, actress, ect. ect.

Last sunday, Liz came over and we all talked for awhile. It was so much fun. Then, they asked me to leave so that they could talk on their own for a little. I left, and to my own surprise, I was completely fine with leaving!!! I can think of times when I have gone to bed crying because I so badly wanted to talk with them. Part of it, is now I get to talk with them for awhile, and, I think that I now know how the older girls feel, because the twins always want to be with me when I have Elaina over. I don't think that I have matured a ton or anything. I just think I finally am comfortable with me, who I am, and my age.

I am so excited!!!! Michaela and I found new comforters for our room, and are going to repaint it. I am so ready for a change.

Well, typing this post has convinced me.

MJ is still playing that gorgeous music on the piano, the rain is still falling. (I doubt that it will ever stop. We do live in Washington after all. I LOVE IT!) The lamp still casts that warm glow over the desk. I can hear voices downstairs of Allie and Sarah doing school. Beth is at school, and Nathan is probably on the computer. Its perfect. Completely perfect. Now, I gotta go. School to do, a life to live, and my own music to make.

Autumn

In case you haven't noticed, I love seasons. So I am going to go on and on about how amazing Autumn is . . .

The sun is warm outside, but there is Fall's signature wind blowing. A sharpness in the air, and freshness in the breath. The tips of trees are turning red, orange, and yellow. It is quiet outside since school has started. Today we are going to Loyalty Park to see if we can find some Horse Chesnuts. I love Fall, I love the weather, and I even love school . . .

Its over . . .

Everyone on blog is upset how camp is over. On monday, I felt like dancing. I have friends, people who will always will support me. I have memories. I can laugh about them, I can cry about them. I can't be stuck in a world of camp forever . . . I got on blog, and read all the posts about how sad they were that camp was over. I was glad it was over. I love camp. If it wasn't over, I wouldn't be able to have these amazing memories, I wouldn't be able to look forward to it next year. I love Camp Hope so much, but you have to keep happy, it will come again, and you will look forward to it, making it more special.

I am so excited for the rest of my summer, and for the school year. I finally realized, I have a future. It might not be see-able, I might not be able to reach out and grab it, but I know that something is going to happen to my life, I might not realize it till its over, but I know that it will happen.

Our neighbor had a heart attack, and bypass surgery. I was talking to him on Sunday, and he seemed tired, and ... old. He was talking to me, and even though he didn't say it I could tell he was trying to let us know, life is so short, live it while your alive. I plan to . . .

Books

I love books. They are amazing. But I can get truly obsessed with books. I forget everything else. Its not good. I read for hours on end. I finish one of the big Harry Potter books in one day. Thats the real problem. I get so obsessed with a book I forget everything else. Even God. The Harry Potter books are my biggest problem. I haven't read them since last year. I really want to read them again, but I know I shouldn't. I am trying so hard to not read those books. The question is, is it becoming obsessive to not want to read them? I really want to read them but I know I shouldn't . . .

I know, I have pathetic trials, but they're trials . . .

New Favorite Song

Oh yeah
Yeah oh yeah

The only ground I ever owned was sticking to my shoes
Now I look at my front porch and this panoramic view
I can sit and watch the fields fill up
With rays of glowing sun
Or watch the moon lay on the fences
Like that's where it was hung
My blessings are in front of me
It's not about the land
I'll never beat the view
From my front porch looking in

There's a carrot top who can barely walk
With a sippy cup of milk
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong
'Cause she likes to dress herself
And the most beautiful girl holding both of them
And the view I love the most
Is my front porch looking in, yeah

I've traveled here and everywhere
Following my job
I've seen the paintings from the air
Brushed by the hand of God
The mountains and the canyons reach from sea to shining sea
But I can't wait to get back home
To the one he made for me
It's anywhere I'll ever go and everywhere I've been
Nothing takes my breath away
Like my front porch looking in

There's a carrot top who can barely walk
With a sippy cup of milk
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong
'Cause she likes to dress herself
And the most beautiful girl holding both of them
Yeah the view I love the most
Is my front porch looking in

I see what beautiful is about
When I'm looking in
Not when I'm looking out

There's a carrot top who can barely walk
With a sippy cup of milk
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong
'Cause she likes to dress herself
And the most beautiful girl holding both of them
Yeah the view I love the most

Oh, the view I love the most
Is my front porch looking in
Yeah
Oh, there's a carrot top who can barely walk
(From my front porch looking in)
A little blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong, yeah
And the most beautiful girl
(Beautiful girl
From my front porch looking in)
Holding both of them
Oh, yeah

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly

Its not about landing safely on the ground after the jump, its about flying far when you jump.

Life's a tidal wave, just live with it!

Yep, life is like  a huge tidal wave constantly washing over my protective railing pushing me out to sea. The platform I stand on is my comfort zone, the ocean around me is everything else. On really warm days I want to jump into the ocean, but the waves won't take me. When it is stormy and grey the waves get bigger and take me away no matter what. Its like a rollercoaster ride. So scary looking at but then so breathtaking when the wind is rushing as it takes you around and around.

So here I am sitting in the den supposed to be doing school, listening to mom listen to a conservative go on and on about how terrible Obama is. Sometimes I want to yell to the world, "Who cares!!!! Just breathe in, breathe out!!!!!!! Relax a little bit. Trust in God!!!" But I know no one would listen. I am just sick and tired of people bashing other people.

So I should probably get to school so I can finish for the year and enjoy a perfect summer and then start fall with a large smile, super excited for high school . . .

The truth is I am supposed to finish my three subjects so I can help mom with spring cleaning the entire house, then do some outdoor cleaning and then maybe I will have to time to read a couple chapters of a book . . .

The life of  ..  well I guess it happens to everyone. Just ride the tidal wave and you will live . . .

A Taste of Summer

Yesterday after church and rest time, Sarah and I went downstairs and got out our little tiny squirt guns. Soon we were outside shooting each other. Then Allison joined us. After happily ambushing our brother, (what are brothers for afterall?) we played around until Beth and MJ were dropped off from their bible study. (Their teen bible study . .. how come no one seems to notice I am a teen . . .) Then after shooting the car, we changed into our bathing suits and soaked ourselves . . .It was fun until Nathan went inside . .. It was fun after as well . . The twins and I played and played and played . .. .

The sweet taste of summer . ..

The most amazing song is country. I am sorry for all the people who don't like country music. They have to listen to this. Go to http://www.playlist.com/searchbeta/tracks#If%20your%20reading%20this%20Tim%20McGraw

Listen to the third song down . . . trust me its worth it.

Where is the color?

Do you ever wake up and not see the color outside? Does it seem like something is missing? I went to sleep last night so alive, so happy. I woke up and I was really sad. You have to look for the color outside to see it. That is the truth.

I feel like all my friends are there, but not there. I hardly have anytime to talk to my best friend. We haven't had a sleep over in days. I hardly ever talk to you guys because you have jobs and school. I am just sitting at home staring at my math hoping it will fix itself. Oh thats another thing. Math is terrible . . .  I am terrible at it and as hard as I try always get a bad grade . . .

Perhaps I shall listen to some music, close my eyes and pretend its summer. Its so exhausting trying to be me all the time . . .

Standing on the Rooftops

Have I mentioned how much I love sunshine? Today, the sunniest day yet, Nathan and I got mom to say we could go on the roof. We were hiding from the twins. It was amazing. The sun makes everything happy. I feel like jumping up and down, putting on my swim suit and run barefoot through the grass. I think I would get cold cause it is warm, but not THAT warm. While we were on the roof, our neighbor came outside with his friend. UH . ..  Nathan waved and them. They looked up and one of them said, "Nice spot." Then we heard Mr. Evans, the neighbor say, "Actually their homeschooled . .. "

I love the sun!!!!

Laugh . . .

Dad was driving me home from Dance last night. We were driving on to the freeway. All of  a sudden we heard a big thump underneath us. It was really startling. Dad pulled over and checked to see if the car was fine. It was so we kept on driving. It was so startling it made me want to cry. I also wanted to laugh. (I was really tired). So I laughed silently. There are times in life when you aren't sure if you want to laugh or cry. Its better to laugh.

When we got home I noticed that Do Hard Things had come in from the library. Beth had put it on hold but I decided to start reading it anyway. I got to chapter 7 by the time Beth was home. My first "hard thing" was giving the book to beth. I really wanted to keep reading it. Lucky for me she is a fast reader. She is almost half-way through it so I will probably get it by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Have a great day!!!!

Bye!

Hurrah for Sunshine!!!

I love spring. I love the sun. I love the green leaves on the trees I love not wanting to put a coat on when the wind blows. Outside the sun is shining and even though the wind is slightly cold it feels like spring. I am so excited for summer. I love not having school and swimming. I love jumping on the trampoline in the sprinkler for hours on end. I love how my freckles get darker and my hair lighter. I love walking around in the summer air at night, being outside in a t-shirt. I even like sunburns. They are painful, but it is all about summer. I love the smell of sunscreen. I love laughing as I run around the yard play games with Nathan, Allison and Sarah. I love suprising Beth by jumping on the trampoline when she is laying on it. I even like hearing the ice cream truck go by playing those songs over and over again. I like wearing shorts and feeling the wind on my legs. I love wearing sundresses on sunday. I love everything about summer, and spring. I love looking forward to it during these months when it rains. Hurrah for the sun! Hurrah for butterflys! Hurrah for the promise of spring we see every time the sun comes out. Hurrah for Sunshine!!!

Another Year . . .

I got up this morning thinking about school, birthdays, and everything that comes with a new year. I didn't want to get up at first, but then I realized I would have to face the year soon. I got to thinking what comes with a year. The laughter, the tears, the friends. 2008 was a interesting year. I think of how much I have grown, more than in height :). I finally left my room feeling good about the new year in front of me.
