The contemplation of little brothers

Many of us have to endure them, and those who don't wish they did. For those who don't have the joy and pain of little brothers, let me enlighten you.

Often, those young males are trying to prove themselves a man. It often results in skinned knees, painful elbows, and tears. They want to be tough, and a "big kid". They also put on a air of, I am so way cooler than you. You can't even tell what kind of car that is, or what kind of airplane that is, I mean come on, it's only a couple miles high in the air!!!! Their false bravado only shows their insecurity, and desperateness for our affection. Though most would never admit it, (I admire the few who do), they so badly wanted the older siblings aproval, that they will do almost anything to do it. They want to know they are loved, and they want to be admired. I believe that today's world beats down boys. They try and make them less manly. It is a sisters duty to build them up, and to help them. I am one of those older sisters who doesn't help in the building up of younger brothers. I try and make him tough, when what he really needs is affection, and love. Not constantly pampering him, and oh my goodness he fell!!!! *runs screaming* are you all right?!?!?! Part of it is because I want a brother who will protect me when I need it, and will be kind, considerate, gentlemanly, and all those things.

Brothers around the world need our help. They don't need toughening up by their sisters, (leave that to other brothers, and guy friends) They need sisterly love, and true friendship, the kind that can only come from their older or younger sisters.

Washington has given way to Rain

MJ is playing a song on the piano, the rain is falling to the piano playing, and leaves are gently drifting to the ground. The lamp next to this lap top is on, sending off a soft glow. All perfect right? Not really. I have been feeling strange recently. It is a new feeling for me. I can't recall when I have felt this way before, but here it is, as sure as can be. I DON'T WANNA GROW UP!!!!! Beth mentioned the other day how young I am. I am so totally fine with that. Weird isn't it. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a big kid, I wanted to drive, and go to college, and to go to the theater every friday, and to fall in love, and get married, and have a huge family, but right now, I am so totally fine with being me, 13, and so not ready to grow up.

So, right now my life is a whirl wind of activity without anything going on. Recently, I saw Wicked at the Paramount Theater. AMAZING musical. It also inspired me . . . Ever been really obsessed with something? Well I was hopelessly inspired. Finally, I am fine with not being a singer, actress, ect. ect.

Last sunday, Liz came over and we all talked for awhile. It was so much fun. Then, they asked me to leave so that they could talk on their own for a little. I left, and to my own surprise, I was completely fine with leaving!!! I can think of times when I have gone to bed crying because I so badly wanted to talk with them. Part of it, is now I get to talk with them for awhile, and, I think that I now know how the older girls feel, because the twins always want to be with me when I have Elaina over. I don't think that I have matured a ton or anything. I just think I finally am comfortable with me, who I am, and my age.

I am so excited!!!! Michaela and I found new comforters for our room, and are going to repaint it. I am so ready for a change.

Well, typing this post has convinced me.

MJ is still playing that gorgeous music on the piano, the rain is still falling. (I doubt that it will ever stop. We do live in Washington after all. I LOVE IT!) The lamp still casts that warm glow over the desk. I can hear voices downstairs of Allie and Sarah doing school. Beth is at school, and Nathan is probably on the computer. Its perfect. Completely perfect. Now, I gotta go. School to do, a life to live, and my own music to make.
